Shadow Visit Experience Course Options: Monday Class Options: EDU 349 - Math in Elementary School: 12:30 PM - 1:50 PM This course is the first of a two-courses sequence that emphasizes instructional methodologies, strategies, activities, assessment, and materials for teaching mathematical concepts and skills in grades K-6. Participants explore key mathematical topics in the areas of problem-solving whole numbers of operations, number theory, and rational numbers. Field experiences include observing students in school setting during math instruction and conducting clinical interviews with children. Prospective elementary teachers examine current research, national and state standards, curriculum materials, and the use of math manipulatives in instruction. Tuesday Class Options: EDU 379: Math in Elementary School Lab: 3:30 PM - 4:20 PM In-depth study of some aspect of education. Specific focus varies from semester to semester.
