SUST 402 - Environmental Citizenship: 11:00 AM-12:20 PM
**Please note that sometimes this class is conducted outdoors and the students visiting will need to wear clothing that is suitable for the weather!**
This course will help students think more critically about what environmental citizenship means and how individuals can become more responsible environmental citizens. This includes synthesizing knowledge from across courses to increase one’s environmental literacy and wisdom, which will be the first part of the course. Then a range of topics will be explored to better understand how our personal choices (for example, shopping, waste management, transportation and energy use) relate to broader social-environmental issues, the tradeoffs of our decisions, and how we can make more environmentally responsible decisions. For selected topics, the focus will be on developing the requisite knowledge and skills to be able to engage in sustainable behaviors (e.g., composting).
