It begins with the origins of modern architecture in Western Europe, continues with an exploration of key 19th-century architects and theorists. It highlights the 20th-century avant-gardes and concludes with the crystallization of modern architecture in the West and around the world. The course seeks to explain the modern not only as a visual phenomenon, but also as an intellectual, philosophical, and cultural idea. | |
